Ezy and Juki

Hot days in the summer of 2018. Ezy survives, Juki arrives.

If it hadn’t been for Ezy flying off the balcony of the public-housing block in Dijon and our friend Julie trying to get him healed we would not have come by Juki. The surgeon Vet in Beaune had a reputation for fixing open fractures of cats who landed on their front legs having twisted and turned on their way down...as cats are reputed to do when free falling.

As the Ezy post-op conference concluded in Beaune, we were about to go.

From the general direction of the Chateau de Pommard, out of the vines, un Monsieur arrived by velo. The bloke pedals over, cardboard box on the back of the bike containing a kitten. The discussion ensued about the cat’s future: the secretary, the bloke, our friend Julie and ourselves agree that consigning just another Tabby to the SPA will probably guarantee a lifetime of joylessness. So the inevitable decision is easily made: home she came.

In the following months Ezy spent a long recuperation with restricted movement after which he emerged in good physical shape to go micturating around..
